Professional Licensing Questions
Attorney-reviewed answers on license applications, discipline and disclosure — free and with no obligation.
A license question is not a criminal question, even when it begins with an arrest. A board runs its own process on its own standard, and the two can reach different conclusions about the same events.
The point most people miss is that a dismissal helps on one route and not at all on the other. Conviction-based action generally needs a conviction; the disclosure obligation asks what happened. An incomplete answer on an application is frequently a worse problem than the underlying matter would ever have been, which makes silence the real risk rather than the record itself.
Conduct abroad is not beyond a board’s reach, and neither is a case that ended without any finding of guilt.
